The Story Behind My Passion for Plants
Prefer listening over reading? I’ve got you covered! Let me read this blog post to you so you can stay on the move.
Get to know me a little better by diving into the story of how this all began—my journey toward plant-based living and the passion that led me to help others thrive on their own paths:
My Beginnings
My own journey toward a healthier lifestyle has been anything but instant—it’s been a process full of discovery, growth, and learning. Sometimes I wish I’d had all the answers at the start, but looking back, I realize how valuable the journey has been. Not only did I dive deep into the science behind the dietary changes I’ve made, but I also got to witness firsthand the amazing improvements that came with each step forward.
When I became a Vegetarian at just 12 years old, my motivation was simple: I wanted to help the animals. My diet, however, didn’t exactly reflect a health-conscious lifestyle. In fact, vegetables were rarely on my plate. (Do French fries count?) My mom jokingly called me “the vegetarian who didn’t eat vegetables”. My favorite food group? Cheese—every kind, every way. My meals may not have been balanced, but that early decision planted a seed of curiosity that would eventually grow into something much deeper.
Starting at 10, I struggled with severe cystic acne. I tried every lotion, potion, and pill I could find, hoping for relief. Nothing worked—until I made the choice to go vegan at 20. Cutting out dairy was the turning point. Almost overnight, my skin transformed, clearing up in a way that felt nothing short of magical after years of frustration. That moment was pivotal. It inspired me to examine not just what I ate, but why. My motivation began to expand beyond compassion for animals and the environment—I started to truly consider how my choices impacted my own health and well-being.
As I began to refine and dig into the details of what truly makes a healthful diet, the evidence became clear: a plant-based approach was the way forward. Not just avoiding animal products, but centering my meals around whole, nutrient-dense plants. Gradually, I phased out the vegan junk food, and with that shift, I lost 30 pounds, cleared up my lingering digestive issues, and felt an incredible transformation in my overall health. This shift was the beginning of a profound transformation, one that has shaped the way I eat, live, and connect with food today.
My Coaching Approach
These changes were so profound that I couldn’t help but share my experience with friends and family. Talking about how much better I felt sparked a new passion within me—I realized how much I loved learning about nutrition and helping others discover its life-changing potential. As I dove deeper into plant-based nutrition, I became aware of the overwhelming amount of misinformation out there. I saw how this often left people confused, frustrated, and unsure of how to make sustainable changes. I wanted to simplify the process, helping people feel confident in their choices and empowered to achieve their health goals. That’s why I became a Certified Nutrition Coach.
My coaching approach is centered on meeting you where you are. Whether you’re curious about incorporating more plants into your meals, or you’re ready to embrace a fully plant-based lifestyle, I focus on creating a plan that fits your unique needs and lifestyle. I believe in equipping you with the tools and knowledge to thrive on a plant-based diet—whatever that looks like for you. My goal is to make your journey to better health feel achievable, enjoyable, and completely your own.
In my conversations about nutrition, I’ve noticed something interesting: most people already know they should eat more whole plant foods. It’s a message that’s everywhere these days—you hear it from your doctor, on the news, and even from friends. Many have dabbled in making changes, some with success and others with frustration. Yet, a lot of people feel stuck in black-and-white thinking, saying things like, “Well, I could never go vegan” for reasons A, B, or C. My mission is to break through those labels and help people reimagine what incorporating more plants into their diet could mean for them.
I understand that everyone is unique. We all come from different backgrounds, cultures, socioeconomic situations, and belief systems. While I personally follow a 100% plant-exclusive diet for health, ethical, and environmental reasons, I’m not here to make that everyone’s reality. Life isn’t black and white, and neither are our diets. We all fall somewhere on the spectrum of how plant-centered our diets are—and that’s okay. Any step, no matter how small, in the right direction is a win.
That’s where I come in. I saw a need that wasn’t being met—a compassionate, flexible approach to plant-based living in a society that often insists on rigid sides. My passion is helping people take meaningful steps toward their health and nutrition goals without the judgment of labels or the pressure to conform to one extreme or another. If you want to go all-in, I’m here for it. If you want to dip your toes in and explore what works for you, I’m here for that too.
Everyone’s journey is different, and everyone deserves guidance and support tailored to their unique path. Together, we’ll create a plan that aligns with your goals, fits your lifestyle, and brings you closer to the healthy, fulfilling life you envision—on your terms.
To your health and vitality,
